CLASSES
As our name suggests, training is at the center of everything we do at The Powder Room. We offer training for everyone from beginners looking to learn more about firearms and self-defense, to experienced firearms owners looking to sharpen their skills. View our class offerings and sign up for a class using our calendar below.
Students must have appropriate eye and ear proteaction. You may bring your own or purchase them from us. Eye and ear protection is NOT included in the price of the class. *Eye and Ear Protection is included in the NSSF First Shots class, but only this class.
All training classes are non-refundable but may be re-scheduled once with at least 72 hrs. notice.
Failure to show, or less than 3 days’ notice given of inability to attend, will result in a $25 rescheduling fee.

NSSF First Shots
4-Hour Basic Class
This is the basic beginner’s handgun course. Handguns and ammunition are provided by The Powder Room. Handguns, ammunition, eye protection and ear protection are provided by The Powder Room. The only thing the student needs is to be dressed appropriately for the range. This is the beginner handgun course for people interested in learning how to shoot and how to operate a handgun. It will cover all of the basics, such as proper grip, proper sight alignment, proper sight picture, proper stance, etc. If you are wanting to learn about handguns this is the course for you. Class is limited to 10 students.

2nd Shots
4-Hour Basic Class
2nd Shots – After completing our NSSF 1st Shots class, many shooters wonder, “what’s next in my training progression?" One option is our new 2nd shots class. This class will dive deeper into the basics that were taught during our 1st shots class. Students will expand their knowledge base, and build on the foundations learned, which will in turn increase muscle memory. This classroom presentation, coupled with relevant and lengthier live fire exercises on the range, will prepare the newer shooter for the next steps in their training. Students will gain confidence as their proficiency increases, creating excitement and comfortability as shooters master the fundamentals and start to improve their marksmanship skills.
(Successful completion of First Shots is a pre-requisite for this course)

Concealed Carry
4-Hour Basic Class
This is not a beginner level class. Student should have some level of familiarity and proficiency with a handgun before attending. This concealed carry class in Panama City Beach introduces students to the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for owning and using a handgun safely. The student will learn about the nomenclature (parts), operation, ammunition, gun safety, shooting fundamentals and activities based around shooting. In addition, this course satisfies the requirements for the State of Florida's Concealed Carry Permit, Per Florida Statutes 790.06.
Prerequisites: A criminal history check is required for this course unless you have purchased a firearm from The Powder Room within the past 30 days. The fee is $25.00 dollars and is non-refundable.

Legal Aspects of Self Defense
A Legal Introduction to Florida Law and the use of force
4-Hour Class
In this 4-Hour block of instruction, students will learn a basic and working understanding of Florida law. To include Home Defense (Castle Doctrine), Personal Defense (Stand Your Ground), and Risk Protection Orders (Red Flag Laws). Students will be exposed to Florida Statute and how it APPLIES in your home and while in public. An introduction to the use of force escalation and de-escalation. Several case studies and court rulings will be explored. Students will be exposed to scenarios on a simulator and decisions made during the encounter.
This course is vital in understanding “Use of force”.

4-Hour Class
This course is designed to take the student beyond the foundation laid in Defensive Pistol 1. Students will be exposed to realistic self-defense scenarios designed to make them a better defender of themselves and their loved ones. Working from the holster, performing reloads, clearing stop pages, and correctly manipulating the trigger to maximize accuracy. These fundamentals are all taught in a live fire, tactical environment by trained professional instructors.
(Successful completion of Defensive Pistol 1 is a pre-requisite for this course)

Defensive Pistol 3
4-Hour Class
This course is designed to take the student beyond the foundation laid in Defensive Pistol 1 and built on in Defensive Pistol 2. It is the culmination of Defensive Pistol Fighting Skills. Students will be exposed to realistic self-defense scenarios designed to make them a better defender of themselves and their loved ones. Working from the holster, performing reloads, clearing stop pages, using cover/concealed, working on incapacitation drills, shooting from unconventional shooting positions, and fighting with light. These fundamentals are all taught in a live fire, tactical environment by trained professional instructors.
(Successful completion of Defensive Pistol 2 is a pre-requisite for this course)

Holster must be Kydex or leather and one that does not collapse when the firearm is drawn or holstered. Students MUST have a magazine pouch that will hold one or two magazines. Pockets are not acceptable for magazine storage in this class. Due to safety considerations, students will NOT be permitted to take the class without a proper holster and magazine pouch. Students who do not have acceptable holsters/magazine pouch may rent a holster/magazine pouch and/or firearm from The Powder Room to successfully complete the class.
